So, the boys and I left town for a week, to Scout camp. Off the grid: no electric, phones, etc. When we returned, we were surprised that the girls did not just sit awaiting our arrival, they removed the upholstery, purchased kitchen cabinets, ordered counter tops, found, purchased & moved a sofa into the bus and began re-upholstering everything... It COULD have happened- the air filter is so big... While we were disconnecting the battery & inverter cables while the welder worked on the bus, Meila and I checked out the air filter. There could probably be a movie about the air filter that ate the town it's so big...




Lucas finished the class IV hitch for us yesterday, and the van tow bar arrived- now the wiring issue is at hand. 24 volt bus to a 12 volt van... hm...  It will have to wait until a couple of weeks when we're back from Sco...

Well, to be honest we're just selling 108 square feet of it.

We are hoping to find a business or group that sees the value of 100 square feet on the sides of our bus- rolling along the nations highways for 12 months, and invite them aboard to share the cost of fuel. Not trying to get rich (we've given up that dream), just trying do this as efficiently as we can.

Talks to put together a deal for a national advertiser are moving s l o w l y, and may not come together by the end of July.... So we'...

Busy day in the bus today...

We'll just list the projects:


#1: remove drivers side mirror, adjust motor and install antenna for the CB. Reinstall mirror.


#2 Install flower-power panels in place of previously velvet upholstered pieces. Major improvement.


#3 See that little rope thing at the top? That's the project- keeping the door from banging against the windshield every time I go for one of eight technical manuals.


#4 Remove galley and make way for the new gourmet kitchen.

It's been open for a few days as we plotted the best plan of attack to replace the upholstered door panel; the door was held in place by an official hillbilly style bungee while the door panel and retaining strap was removed for replacement.



As you can see. it was a patchwork quilt of parts that greeted anyone that entered, including the gray vinyl base, the ramshackle/falling off plastic latch cover, the hardware store special white handle, the green plush decorative panel or the multi patter...

The bus updates may go on for years, but here's what happened this week.

-Replaced the shower fan switch
-Replaced the kitchen light switch
-Fabricated the portable macerator and dumped the waste tanks
-Traced the wire for the CB radio through all of the forward cabinets
-Removed the electronics and wiring from the previous fax phone installation (and discovered a few hundred leaflets from the JFJ folks under the file cabinet)
-Removed the unbecoming upholstered valances


...taking out about 20 pound...

So we're moving forward with modifications and changes to this big 'ol bus, and on the list was the installation of a macerator pump.
